The Historical background :-
Earlier the norm was to sell on carpet areas only. Over the years the concepts of “built-up area” (wall of Flat ) and subsequently “super-built-up area” ( proportionate common areas) and the “super-super-built-up area” ( in cities like mumbai ) were introduced to the business. This was done as a justification for the better amenities being provided by Developers, but more to overcome increasing competition.
